May Donations – Carpenter Hospice “Team Pat O’Day”

Every month we randomly choose a department within the Company to select a charity for donation.

In May, our employees unanimously selected Carpenter Hospice towards Team Pat O’Day

In May 2023, one of our dedicated employees had a close family member, Pat O’Day, passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer.  Pat’s final weeks were spent at Carpenter Hospice in Burlington, where he was part of the volunteer family for 10 years.

Pat’s family and friends will be doing a 5km walk to help raise funds for the Carpenter Hospice on

History of Carpenter Hospice

In 1999 the four Rotary Clubs of Burlington committed a pledge towards developing the Hospice. Burlington resident Len Carpenter donated $500,000 to the project, earning him the right to choose the name for the new Hospice. St. Stephen United Church generously offered to lease a piece of property adjacent to its parking lot for “one dollar and a rose” a year. The lease is for 100 years! On May 25, 2002, Carpenter Hospice officially opened its doors to their first residents.

Carpenter Hospice offers community-based programs for people dealing with a life-limiting illness or grief. Now an 11-bedroom hospice has welcomed over 3,000 people who have given staff and volunteers the privilege of being a part of their end-of-life journey.
